MATERIALS:
The
assignment will be done on 12x12 inch white paper. Any or all of the
following may be used.
1.
Markers
2.
Colored Pencils
3.
Crayons
ASSIGNMENT:
1. Fold a 12 inch square
2. In the triangle created by the folds that is on the top right side with one of its' sides being the right side of the paper create an interesting design, in pencil, using the design choices below.
3. Consider the
following design choices as you create your design:
1.
Repeat -Shapes, lines, patterns etc.
2.
Balance - Be sure your shapes balance out and pay attention to the balance and distribution of the color.
3. Overlap - Make sure many of your shapes overlap to show space and create new and more complex shapes.
4.
Variety -
Have a variety of size, shape, line etc.
5. Do not float too many shapes - Going off the page and overlapping should keep things from floating in your design.
6.
Fill the space and go OFF the page - Be sure you "use" all the space on the page and go off the "page" so that you will have connecting shapes in your over all design.
7. Show good craftsmanship - Be careful as you work and care about every mark you put on your paper.
4. After you have created your design in the first triangle darken it in with pencil, fold the adjacent triangle over it and rub the back with the end of a marker. This should transfer you design onto the second triangle. Continue doing this until all of the triangles have the design.
5. Finish off the Kaleidoscope Design with color. Think about the arrangement of your colors and your choice of colors. Look at the color wheel to give you some help in your choice of color combinations.
